#TV: Calling $30K Millionaires

Get ready Dallas! $30,000 Millionaires, a new reality TV show, could soon be filming in the Big D! A casting call is now underway for the series and if producers find just the right players, the show could indeed become reality. Indeed, finding the right cast is essential to the success of a show and whether it gets picked up by a Network.  It's all about dynamics, personalities and finding that perfect mix of characters. My most recent TV project,  AMS Pictures produced Dallas Car Sharks, is a perfect casting example.  The four used car dealers cast in the Velocity TV series have the larger-than-life personalities vital in bringing the original concept to life.

As with most show ideas, this isn't one that sprung up overnight.  In fact, it's taken years to get here, which makes it even more exciting.  You see, I know a little bit of the backstory here because I once worked with former news reporter Jay Gormley, one of the guys behind the original concept. Jay was a colleague of mine at CBS 11 in Dallas more than a decade ago and he talked about the idea back then. At the time, it was intended for the big screen and Jay teamed up with his friend John Venable to write a screenplay about guys living the high life in Dallas on borrowed money, aka their credit cards.  Of course, even great ideas can take time to come to fruition, whether it's on the big or small screen.  And that's the case here. So I couldn't be more excited to hear that it may finally happen for these guys. The fact that their idea still holds up after all these years is incredible!

You can find all the casting call details here.
